Firstport awards £3,200 in seed funding to new shared apprenticeship programme

We are delighted to announce that The Apprentice Store has been awarded seed funding from the Scottish Government’s Social Entrepreneurs Fund. This means that we can start making a difference to young people sooner. We have been fortunate enough to benefit from £3,200 to help our shared apprenticeship venture grow. The Apprentice Store will help young people and those from disadvantaged or challenging backgrounds into employment. The funding has allowed us to concentrate on launching our website and begin marketing The Apprentice Store to local businesses in Inverness.

We will initially focus on the IT sector within the Inverness area using the funds to help us get started. It means we can now give local businesses the capability of registering their interest in our programme and we can start employing apprentices.

As part of the Start It programme, David has been working closely with Firstport and gaining valuable guidance and assistance throughout the process. The Start It programme offers those with an innovative business idea which addresses a social, environmental and/or community issue the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £5,000.

Firstport is Scotland’s development agency for start-up social entrepreneurs and social enterprise. Firstport have provided support and assistance to budding social enterprises since 2007 through business support and advice, funds and by providing access to vital resources and connections.
